S.A.S.S. is a non-profit, contemporary art group in Stevensville, Montana, organized for the active promotion, display and production of public art. We have grown into a network of artists and art supporters with the common goal of presenting fine art to the rural community of Stevensville.

Our goals are:

• To encourage artistic development through an artist network, exhibitions and public art projects
  
• To broaden the accessibility to fine art in the community of Stevensville
  
• To plan, finance and build a contemporary art museum with an outdoor sculpture park in a facility with a Stevensville address.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 10 am at the Bitterroot Star office in downtown Stevensville. Any interested artists or art supporters are welcome. Membership is $10 per year for a regular membership and $20 for a professional membership (this includes a web page on the SASS website).  This is tax-deductible and residency in Stevensville is not a requirement. Business memberships are available at $75 per year, which includes all the benefits of being a member, plus sponsorship notices in all S.A.S.S. advertisements, press releases and the website. All memberships include our S.A.S.S.y newsletter.

Our history:

S.A.S.S. was established by local artists in May of 2001 with its first community art project called the "First Annual Stevensville Rural Mailbox Art Contest." A cash prize was offered to anyone in the 59870 zip code with the most beautifully decorated mailbox. We also plan group shows and public art projects each quarter of the year to showcase our members' work and get the public involved in art.
