S.A.S.S. is a non-profit, contemporary art group in Stevensville, Montana, organized for the active promotion, display and production of public art. We have grown into a network of artists and art supporters with the common goal of presenting fine art to the rural community of Stevensville. Our goals are:
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 10 am at the Bitterroot Star office in downtown Stevensville. Any interested artists or art supporters are welcome. Membership is $10 per year for a regular membership and $20 for professional/supporter/business/family membership (this includes a web page on the SASS website). This is tax-deductible and residency in Stevensville is not a requirement. All memberships include our S.A.S.S.y newsletter. Our history: In 1996, SASS produced the first Stevensville Scarecrow Festival, a public art event where citizens create and display scarecrow theme sculptures. Cast prizes are awarded based on votes from the public on First Friday in October. More about the scarecrow festival . . SASS has been responsible for two major public sculptures.
