WHAT

The Stevensville Scarecrow Festival is an annual event produced by the Stevensville Art & Sculpture Society (SASS) as a public art project.  Sculptures are constructed with themes of scarecrows, crows, and/or fall and displayed on First Friday in October along the walking path north of Stevensville.  People's Choice prizes are awarded by popular vote; Artistic Merit prizes are awarded as determined by a panel of judges from SASS.

The Stevensville Scarecrow Festival is produced by the Stevensville Art and Sculpture Society (SASS) in association with the Stevensville Main Street Association 
 

PRIZES

People's Choice Awards are determined through balloting on Friday 10/2 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM along the pathway outside of Stevensville; Artistic Merit awards are determined by a panel of three judges from SASS.

Peoples' Choice Awards:  1st Place $300, 2nd Place $200, 3rd Place $100
Artistic Merit Awards: Two awards of $50 each

Winners will be notified by telephone and/or email and published in both the Bitterroot Star and the Ravalli Republic in the Wednesday editions following the festival.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Entrants agree that 1) SASS assumes no liability for theft and/or damage to scarecrows and 2) SASS or third parties (e.g., newspapers) have the right to use images of the scarecrows and/or other information provided by the entrants.
 

CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION

Scarecrows may be any size and constructed with any material.  Scarecrows are to be installed between 5 PM, Thursday, Oct 1st and 4 PM, Friday, Oct. 2nd. The scarecrows will be displayed along the path at the north end of town.  Entrants must provide their own installation and hardware.  A metal fence post 5’ above ground will be provided.  You will receive a number of the post for your installation.  Due to the presence of underground wiring and/or water systems, no additional stakes are allowed.  Stakes are the property of SASS and are not to be removed.

Scarecrows must be removed by Saturday, Oct 11th
